We care about the planet

ABMI members subscribe a common Sustainability Charta

The global warming is posing a serious threat to the very survival of our planet. At ABMI, member companies believe that everyone should play its part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and that the only way to do it in the packaging industry is to move towards a Circular Economy model. Such a model is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use and regenerating natural systems. ABMI members decided to contribute to Circular Economy communication, establishment and expansion with their know-how and technical solutions. To give voice to this commitment, all members subscribed a newly defined Sustainability Charta, clearly indicating ABMI members vision and mission. To ensure common understanding, the members defined a common glossary encompassing sustainability terms and their meaning.

“Europe aims to be the first climate-neutral continent by becoming a modern, resource-efficient economy, through the Green Deal. One of its main building blocks is the Circular Economy Action Plan, which will reduce pressure on natural resources and will create sustainable growth and jobs” says Sam Strömerstén, President at ABMI. “As Association of European manufacturers of beverage machinery active in Europe, we feel the need to join forces and align on a common vision of how our industry should promote and advocate the shift to a circular economy” declares Mr. Sam Strömerstén.
